Does it need a consent?
An open pergola generally does not. One with a roof that closes can be treated as a roofed structure, so size, height and distance to the boundary start to matter. We check the rules for your site before you order.
Can it attach to the house?
Yes, it can be fixed to the house or stand on its own posts. We look at what it is fixing into before recommending either.
